Magpie Books welcomes all ages of readers and pre-readers, staffed by an enthusiastic, bookish team of Sian, Ellen and Sally, who all grew up in the area and went to school in Malpas. Sian is a poet / novelist who has worked for The Poetry Society as well as teaching creative writing for Oxford and and Chester Universities. Ellen is a theatre-maker and story-teller who worked for The Unicorn Theatre in London before returning to her home village with her young family and setting up a theatre company called Mudlarks. Sally is an actor and playwright who co-runs Mudlarks theatre company when she is not teaching drama or yoga. They all love books!

 

Magpie Books is delighted to host mini-exhibitions of work by local visual artists, and sells a range of arty cards for all occasions, some of which are exclusively available from us. The first exhibition will be animal images by Jude Edwin-Scott, which will be available to buy as originals, prints, and also as a range of bright and inspiring cards to delight adults and children alike.
